Second single premiered by For Folk's Sake!
And I'm on the hunt for more stories!
I am very excited to announce that the second single from my Somebody's Story EP is out in the world and has been given its premiere by one of my favourite websites - For Folk's Sake.
Harmonise is now on iTunes and Spotify, and I had my first gig of 2017 at Embassy Gardens in Nine Elms last Friday to give the track it's first live outing!
The song was inspired by a story sent to me by a friend called Dom about a visit to a bar in Chicago when he was living in America. A chance encounter with a musician left a lifelong impression and showed the power of music to connect strangers. The moment I read it, I could picture the neon sign, feel the floorboards sticky underfoot, hear the sound of the guitar beginning to play. I knew the song had to be written!
And on that note...
I'm looking for new stories! I can't say too much at the moment, but I am writing more songs inspired by other people's stories, and I would love to have more contributions.
The ones I've drawn on to date have been very moving and rooted in some quite difficult themes; however, there are some lighter hearted ones still to come, and I'd love to have all kinds of different ideas for the new songs. It could be something that made you laugh... a strange coincidence... a moment you felt truly happy or amazed at the world.
That said, if you have a more serious story to share, please don't hesitate to get in touch. It would a privilege to tell other stories that just need to be heard, and I will put everything into doing them justice.
So if you have a story to tell - or know someone who's life could easily inspire a song, please do let me know! You can send ideas (just a couple of lines is fine) to firstname.lastname@example.org. I can't wait to hear more amazing ideas!
